On the eve of his second outing in the Euroformula Open Championship at Spa-Francorchamps this weekend (17-18 May), rising American open-wheel racer Shawn Rashid has sewn up an exciting new partnership agreement with pioneering underwear brand BN3TH.
In his rookie campaign in the fiercely-disputed single-seater series, Rashid is bidding to build upon a debut at Portimão in Portugal last month that yielded promise if not – due to repeated engine issues – the results to match his raw speed. As he returns to legendary Belgian circuit Spa – where the Atlanta, GA native was a top seven finisher last year in the GB3 Championship – Rashid will go into battle with the support of BN3TH. As for his aims in the Ardennes over the next two days, Rashid is unequivocal. “In Portugal, we showed really good pace in testing in what is a very strong field – ending up second-quickest, just 0.003 seconds away from the fastest time,” he reflected. “I felt really confident after that, and while engine failures in qualifying and race one subsequently compromised our weekend, we are pushing on. “Spa is my favourite track and – unlike Portimão – one that I already know well, and I’m in an amazing car and team, so I’m feeling good. Everything is beginning to gel and I’m ready to come out fighting!”
